The Wage Subsidy August 2021 is a payment to support employers, so they can continue to pay employees and protect jobs for businesses affected by the move to Alert Level 4 on 17 August 2021.

Rates have changed to $600 per week per full-time equivalent employee and $359 per week per part time employee.

You can apply for a contribution towards the wages of your employees (or yourself, if you are self-employed) for a two week period.  An expectation of a loss of 40% of revenue as a result of the alert level change is required.

Applications open on Friday 20th August at 9am through the Ministry of Social Development website and will be open for two weeks.

More info can be found here.

The Resurgence Support Payment (RSP) is a payment to help support viable and ongoing businesses or organisations due to a COVID-19 alert level increase to level 2 or higher.

If your business or organisation is facing a reduction of 30% in revenue over a 7 day period, you may be eligible for the RSP.

Eligible businesses and organisations can apply to receive the lesser of:

  • $1,500 plus $400 per full-time equivalent (FTE) employee, up to a maximum of 50 FTEs
  • four times (4x) the actual revenue decline experienced by the applicant.

Applications for the alert level increase announced on 17 August will open at 8am on 24 August.

More info can be found here.

This provides a two week lump sum payment of either $585.80 per week for full time workers or $350 per week for part time workers who must self-isolate and cannot work from home.

Note: Employers cannot get the Covid -19 Wage Subsidy and the Leave Support Scheme for the same employee at the same time.

This provides a one off (once per 30 days) $350 payment for workers who must miss work due to a Covid-19 test and cannot work from home.
